Jul 10, 2026 | Posted by Abdul-Rahman Oladimeji

HyperDataGrid is planning a new data center outside Lufkin, Texas, at the former Northern Chip Mill site on Highway 103 West. The proposed facility would be developed on the 40-acre former timber processing site located along Ben Dunn Road.

Angelina County Judge Keith Wright said HyperDataGrid has secured power and water agreements and has started clearing the site. Angelina County is located between Houston and Dallas near the Louisiana border. Another company, AmpZ, is also planning a data center campus nearby at the former Southland/Abitibi Paper Mill site.

Texas-based HyperDataGrid specializes in high-density liquid-cooled data centers using closed-loop systems and direct-to-chip cooling, supporting up to 600kW per rack. The company says its 20MW facilities can be delivered within 12 months. HyperDataGrid is also developing a 20MW facility in Parsons, Kansas, and lists two additional planned Texas sites, though details remain limited.hyperdatagrid_lufkin_texas.width-358.png
