Generative Bionics plans a 5,000-square-metre hub in Italy as the first node of a three-site Physical AI Data Factory network for industrial humanoid robots. The Genoa company announced the plan at CES Unveiled Milan on October 21 and aims to have thewccftech.comOfficial image of the AMD Helios rack-scale AI system powering Generative Bionics' Data Factory. building operational by the fourth quarter of 2027.

AMD supplies the AI infrastructure. The network will use AMD Helios rack-scale systems to process physical and synthetic data, train physical AI models and run digital-twin simulations in parallel, according to the announcement. AMD Ventures backed Generative Bionics' EUR 70 million seed round, and AMD chips also sit inside the GENE.01 robot, Robotics and Automation News reports.

Fleets of GENE.01 robots will work continuously inside environments the company builds with industrial partners. Generative Bionics says the resulting dataset will combine vision and motion data with signals from the robot's full-body multimodal skin, which detects touch and proximity. Every environment and robot configuration is mirrored as a digital twin so tasks can be repeated across thousands of variations.

"We are replicating the world, physically and digitally, to train humanoid robots at scale before they ever enter it," said Daniele Pucci, chief executive of Generative Bionics. "The Physical AI Data Factory is how we do it: fleets of GENE.01 learn from real industrial work, we stress-test those skills across thousands of digital-twin variations on AMD compute, and we return validated World Action Models to the field."

AMD's Keith Strier said the Helios systems give the project the computing capacity it needs. Generative Bionics says the Italian hub will be Europe's largest Physical AI training facility for humanoid robots, with a second site planned elsewhere in Europe and a third for global markets.

The company spun out of the Italian Institute of Technology in 2024 and licenses technologies developed there over more than 20 years of humanoid research.

Italy counts 146 data center facilities on Baxtel, 101 of them in the Milan metro. Compass Milan is the country's largest site at 48MW.
