The government of Uttar Pradesh, India, has approved the plan for four data center parks in the state. The government granted permission to Adani Enterprises Limited Project-1 and Adani Enterprises Limited Project-2, NIDP Developers Private Limited (an affiliate of Hiranandani Group), and NTT Global Data Centers and Cloud Infrastructure India Private Limited. According to government officials, the data center parks will generate up to 4,000 jobs. Investment in the parks could also reach Rs 15,950 crore ($2bn).
Uttar Pradesh has a data center policy that provides interest subvention, capital subsidy, and stamp duty exemption on land purchases or leases. It is currently unclear if the data center park approvals are for previously announced or new facilities. There have been massive data center developments and investments in India recently. Uttar Pradesh has also seen heavy investments with STT GDC, CapitaLand, Sify, and Reliance Jio planning data centers in the region.
