The University of Virginia experienced disruption due to the impact of fallen trees on the data center's grid line.  The facility was supposed to transition to a backup generator immediately, but the backup switch failed. UVA employees manually shifted power to the data center at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, following the failure of the data center late on Sunday local time. The outage affected WiFi services and disabled access to specific applications requiring NetBadge authentication, according to the local university newspaper UVAToday. These applications include Workday, Collab, the Student Information System, UVABox, and others.
