Evolution Data Centres has partnered with Central Pattana PCL, a Thai property developer, to construct a new data center in Bangkok. Under the terms of the joint venture agreement, the two corporations will construct a 34MW carrier-neutral data center in central Bangkok, Thailand. Phase 1 of the facility is anticipated to be operational in the second half of 2024. Central Pattana, a significant developer in Thailand founded in 1980, focuses primarily on retail properties and develops office, hotel, and residential buildings. It is a subsidiary of the regional Central Group.
Evolution, founded in 2021 and headquartered in Singapore, received funding from Warburg Pincus last year. The CEO of Evolution, Darren Webb, was formerly IO Data Centers' MD for Asia. Ed Martin-Sperry, the co-founder, was previously the director of Asian TMT investment banking at ING. It partnered with the Philippine construction firm Megawide Construction Corp. earlier this year to develop a 69MW colocation data center in Cavite. This was the company's first announcement of a data center, although it had been quoted in the Straits Times discussing Batam's suitability for data centers.
