eStruxture has revealed its plans for a new data center facility in Calgary, Canada. The facility will be called CAL-2, and it will be located in Balzac, north of Alberta city. The facility will have 93,000 square feet of space with 30MW of capacity. eStruxture will also build the facility to Tier III standards. CAL-2 is scheduled to be in operation in the second half of 2022 with three data halls.
The firm currently has a 65,000 square foot data center in Calgary. It acquired the facility from Shaw Communications in 2019. CEO and president of eStruxture, Todd Coleman, revealed that the company entered the Calgary market three years ago hoping that there would be a rebound in the economy. He added that the company believed that the Calgary market would develop into a significant data center market in Canada through growth. Coleman said the company had witnessed the growth because the capacity at its CAL-1 facility is almost filled, prompting the development of CAL-2.
