PLDT Inc subsidiary, ePLDT, has announced that it has plans to increase data center market capacity with the introduction of its twelfth, set to offer at least 100 MW of capacity. Through this move, the company will further boost its 65% data center market capacity.

Details regarding the location, specifications, and development timelines have not yet been shared.

Speaking about the company's expansion, ePLDT President & CEO Victor Genuino said: "We want to be able to help the Philippines be the next hyperscaler hub of Asia while continuing to support the digital transformation journey of different sectors locally. That's why we've been investing heavily in our ecosystem to ensure that our data centers will be a crucial enabler of the country's digital economy," he said.

"Historically, data centers have played a silent yet fundamental role in the digital agenda, most especially in the Philippines. But things are changing now. Governments and enterprises are now seeing the integral role that this industry takes on to secure our digital future," Genuino added.

The company also shared that its 11th data center, outside Manila in Santa Rosa, is already receiving several colocation requests from hyperscalers, CDNs, banks, BPOs, carriers, and the national government.

When complete, in 2024, the data center will be the country's largest, offering 50 MW.
