PLDT, a Philippine telecommunications company, is considering the construction of a 12th data center within the country. Victor S. Genuino, president and CEO of ePLDT, disclosed the company's intention to construct a new 100MW facility while delivering the keynote address at the W. Media Philippines Cloud and Datacenter Convention 2023 the week prior. No information was provided regarding the site, specifications, or timetable for development.
The ePLDT/Vitro data center section of PLDT is responsible for the upkeep of over 6,000 racks spread over 10 data centers. The company announced intentions to increase its portfolio by 3,000 racks last year. PLDT is now engaged in the construction of its 11th data center, which is a 100MW facility located outside of Manila in Santa Rosa. Construction on this center began in March. It is anticipated that the initial 14MW phase will become operational in the early part of 2024.
