D9 Infrastructure has completed the acquisition of UK data center company Volta. This is exciting news as the company recently acquired Iceland’s Verne Global. D9 announced earlier in the week that it has signed a binding agreement to acquire Volta Data Centres for £45m ($58.5). Volta owns and operates an 8,450 square meters (91,000 square foot) 6MW data center in central London. It offers colocation services from the facility. Volta has been operating the data center since 2013.
Digital 9 Infrastructure said the acquisition delivers on its metro Edge data center strategy to identify strategic data centers in or near urban centers, offering low latency to customers. The company has been busy in recent times. Digital 9 Infrastructure raised £95.2 million earlier in the year through a share placing. Last month, its wholly-owned subsidiary, Digital 9 Wireless Limited, also paid €60 million ($65m) to acquire Leeson Telecom Limited.
