Cyxtera has announced that it is expanding its data center data footprint in Silicon Valley and Chicago. This includes the leasing of a 9MW data center based in Santa Clara, which offers 121,000 sq ft across four floors. In addition to this, the company is also adding around 1.6 MW of capacity at its SFO1 facility in Silicon Valley.

In addition to its Silicon Valley expansion, Cyxtera is growing in Chicago, too. While this expansion is happening on a much smaller scale, the Florida-based company will add 2 MW of capacity to its ORD2 data centre, based near O’Hare International Airport.

Speaking about the company’s growth, Nelson Fonseca, President & CEO of Cyxtera, said: “By adding a new facility in Silicon Valley and bringing more capacity online in our existing facilities there and in Chicago, we’re able to continue delivering Cyxtera’s innovative solutions to even more of our existing and prospective customers.”

Randy Rowland, Cyxtera’s Chief Operating Officer, added: “In analysing the opportunity to grow our presence in both Silicon Valley and Chicago, we saw significant upside potential to drive growth for our business while delivering the leading-edge solutions our customers have come to expect from Cyxtera.”
