CEO Dennis Uy stated that the Philippines-based telecommunications company Converge ICT Solutions plans to invest $60 million in creating three new data centers in the Philippines. In the following 18 to 24 months, the Internet service provider plans to build data centers in Pampanga, Quezon City, and Cebu.
Each data center will contain 600 racks with the capacity to grow to 1,000 racks and will $20 million. The new data centers will join the existing facilities in Clark and Pasig, which are used for internal operations. The third data center will join the upcoming 49MW hyperscale data center scheduled for Paranaque City.
In November 2022, the business signed a 14MW geothermal energy contract with Greencore Geothermal to power the Angeles City data center of its parent company, ComClark Network and Technology Corp. Its two existing data centers are also fuelled by a 48MW geothermal energy contract that will expire this year. It is unclear what this will imply for Converge's existing and future data centers. The company's goal for 2050 is net-zero emissions.
In February of this year, Converge and Keppel broke ground on a cable landing station for the Bifrost cable. Construction is anticipated to be finished in 2024.
