Philippines telecommunication company DITO Telecommunity has opened a data center in Batangas City. DITO did not reveal the specifications for the data center, but it had a launch ceremony for the facility. From indications, the data center was developed in conjunction with Udenna- its parent company, and China Telecom. According to DITO, the facility is the country's first Tier III data center. It noted that it is also developing a similar facility in the country. However, Uptime did not list the facility as a certified data center.
The chief technology officer of DITO, Rodolfo Santiago, said: "The disaster-resilient and environment-friendly facility is the center of the network where all our edge data centers, and regional data centers are connected – the very brain of the network we all have worked hard to build despite the different challenges we faced." He added: "We in DITO, including our partners, have pushed forward that have led to our success in reaching milestone after milestone as a testament to our commitment as we find ourselves at the doorstep of the future for Philippine telecommunications, with DITO at the forefront of ensuring a robust digital future for our countrymen."
