Chile: ClaroVTR announces Chile data center expansion

ClaroVTR has announced that it is expanding in Chile, with a US$320mn, 3,000m2 expansion of its 2,000m2 Liray data center in Colina municipality. This will bring the total footprint to 5,000 sqm (53,820 sq ft).
According to reports, the building features three 1,000m2 clean rooms, anti-seismic isolators, energy backup and fire detection systems. The facility also has Tier IV and LEED BD+C Data Center certifications.
Speaking about the expansion Alfredo Parot, general manager of ClaroVTR, said: "We feel very proud and take a new and important step towards the consolidation of our services and leadership in the segment of large corporations and companies in the country."
Parot added: "This investment is yet another example of our great commitment and that of our investors, Liberty Latin America and America Móvil, with the development of our industry and growth in Chile. In addition, this investment directly contributes to the consolidation of Chile as a digital hub in the region."
"We have many public institutions that operate with us and with the alliance we have achieved with Amazon Web Services. Being the main cloud provider for public services, we can deliver a much more complete service and create a digital hub in Chile," Claro head Francisco Guzmán commented in a statement.
The company is a result of the merger between Liberty Latin America and America Móvil.
