Citylink to Supply Data Center Waste Heat to Wrocław District Heating Network

Property developer Citylink has signed an LOI with a local power plant to supply waste heat from its 24MW Wrocław Stadion data center to Wrocław’s district heating network. The system would capture heat from the facility, which is still under construction, and feed it into the municipal network. Citylink said the project remains in the design and development stage, with no cost or completion timeline available yet.

“We are consistently seeking new heat sources that can support the transformation of Wrocław's heating system,” said Dariusz Witkowski, president of the management board for Kogeneracja, the local power plant operator. “Our collaboration with Citylink is another step in developing projects utilizing waste heat. It confirms the growing role of digital infrastructure in creating a modern, energy-efficient economy. This solution allows for more efficient use of locally available energy.”

Warsaw-based property developer Citylink owns and operates four business parks in Poland, including a mixed-use complex near Wrocław with a data center. Citylink confirmed that Nokia will be the facility’s primary user, testing broadband transmission technologies. The heat reuse system is designed to scale if the site expands, while the project will also provide Citylink with experience in AI-focused data center infrastructure.

Wrocław remains a relatively small Polish data center market, with five facilities listed by DataCenterMap.Citylink’s waste heat agreement is not the first such project in Wrocław. In July, Wrocław University of Science and Technology signed an LOI with Kogeneracja to develop a system that would reuse heat from servers at its Center for Networking and Supercomputing. No cost or completion timeline was disclosed for the project.
