Canadian developer Spur Innovation is planning a 50–75MW data center on a 25-acre site in Fergus, Ontario.According to an AI-generated factsheet attached to a report by the Wellington Advertiser, the proposal also includes a vertical farm and greenhouse complex at 865 Gartshore Street. The data center would be built in three phases, starting with 25–35MW over the first three years before expanding to 50–75MW, with a long-term plan to grow to 150–300MW on adjacent land.
The factsheet was sourced from a project website that has since been taken offline. The land is owned by a corporation whose director is Spur Innovation founder Krishan Judge. However, Centre Wellington told the Wellington Advertiser it has not yet received a development application from the company.
Spur Innovation positions itself as a data center operator, compute provider, AI investor, and startup accelerator. Its flagship Venture Studio program is based at the company's Waterloo campus, a former BlackBerry headquarters. Spur says the site includes a 20MW operational data center on a 37.6-acre campus with 700,000 square feet (65,032 sqm) of space.
