Illinois's former HSBC data center will be auctioned off later this month. On June 6-8, Cushman & Wakefield will auction off a data center in Volo via LoopNet. According to the listing, the Volo Data Center is a 160,000-square-foot data facility on a 42-acre lot at 300 S Fish Lake Road. Volo is a community in Lake County to the north of Chicago. The single-story facility provides 28,500 square feet of raised floor in two data centers and 5.4 MW of power in a 2N+1 configuration. The data center is serviced by Comcast, Verizon, and Zayo, with dark fiber accessible for other carriers to provide service. The site is LEED Gold Accredited and Energy Star rated, per GBIG. The facility is described as a comprehensive, immediately occupiable data center.
The building was constructed by HSBC in 2007 and was most recently held by Capital One, which 2012 purchased HSBC's US credit card operations. It was unconfirmed when Capital One left the building. The facility is also advertised for sale on the website of the investment firm Chirisa.
The online auction will take place from June 6 to June 8. Starting proposals are $5 million.
