Odata, a LATAM provider of data centers, has been fully acquired by Aligned Data Centers. According to Aligned, the transaction places the company among the biggest private data center owners in the Americas, with more than 2.5GW of critical capacity throughout over 40 data centers at full build-out. Funds held by Macquarie Asset Management largely own the company. Odata will operate as "Odata, an Aligned Data Centers Company," and CEO Ricardo Alário will continue to lead the business.
Odata, which was established in 2015 by the Brazilian private equity firm Patria Investments and is headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil, provides colocation offerings from three data facilities in Brazil and one each in Colombia and Mexico. The corporation has begun construction on a building in Chile, is constructing a new structure in Rio de Janeiro, and plans to expand its campus in Sao Paulo. Last year, at the opening of its first Mexican facility, the company announced that it would construct a second 30MW data facility in Querétaro in the future and that it plans to target Peru as its next sector, though it did not disclose any timelines.
The purchase terms were not disclosed, but previous estimates placed Odata's value at approximately $1.8 billion. The transaction is funded by Aligned in addition to a preferred equity investment from SDC Capital Partners' funds.
