Real estate firm Prologis is planning a 99MW data center in San Jose, California. The proposed three-story facility would span 516,000 sq ft (47,935 sqm) across a 15-acre site on Silver Creek Valley Road and include an on-site substation. Construction is expected to take around two years, with Prologis covering the cost of required transmission upgrades.
Prologis gained control of the site through its $23 billion acquisition of Duke Realty in 2022. Duke had purchased the property in 2021 for $40.2 million from Peery Arrillaga and previously secured approval for a 281,875 sq ft industrial warehouse, though construction never began. Prologis is also planning another major data center campus in San Jose near the Los Esteros Energy Center, which could deliver up to 400MW across four two-story buildings.
Prologis is a real estate investment trust focused on logistics and industrial properties. The company says it has 5.6GW of power either committed or in advanced negotiations and aims to secure up to 10GW of data center capacity over the next decade. Its data center pipeline spans multiple US states, as well as projects in Paris and Toronto, with some developments being pursued alongside Skybox. Prologis is also currently seeking to acquire UK real estate firm Segro.
