Incorporated by Amiri decree in January 1957, NBB has grown into Bahrain's leading retail and commercial bank, regulated by the Central Bank of Bahrain and majority-owned by the state through Mumtalakat Holding Company. The bank is led by Group CEO Usman Ahmed and Chairperson Hala Ali Hussain Yateem, and operates from its headquarters at NBB Tower on Government Avenue in Manama, with additional branches in Abu Dhabi and Riyadh supporting its regional corporate and trade finance clients.
A Tier III design-certified data center occupying the 6th floor of NBB's own headquarters tower in Manama, completed in 2025 after an 18-month infrastructure overhaul. It supports the bank's core operations and made NBB the first bank in Bahrain to design, build, and operate its own Uptime Institute-certified facility.
