xAI, Elon Musk's startup, has acquired a 1 million square foot (92,905 square meter) property in Memphis for a new data center to support the expansion of its Colossus supercomputer. The site, located in the Whitehaven area, was purchased for $80 million.
Through its affiliate, CTC Properties, xAI secured three parcels of land on Tulane Road in Whitehaven. The purchase includes an existing warehouse and two neighboring plots, collectively spanning 100 acres.
Colossus 2’s power is primarily self-generated via gas turbines in Southaven, Mississippi, with plans to scale significantly through the Solaris partnership by Q2 2027, supported by grid connections and Tesla Megapacks.
