Verne acquired its Pori data center in 2022 as part of the Ficolo acquisition.

  • In 2024, Investment firm Ardian completed the acquisition of European data center firm Verne from UK infrastructure firm Digital 9 Infrastructure plc (D9).
  • Verne’s data center in Ulvila, western Finland, is located inside Finnish bedrock in an underground network of tunnels
  • Originally quarried by the Finnish Defence Forces in the 1960s, the facility is now fully owned by Ficolo after being decades almost empty
  • The modular structure of the data center provides excellent prerequisites for security and scalability. The premises fully support both shared data center spaces as well as fully customized dedicated data center spaces
  • The tunnel halls are independent from each other allowing customers to have e.g. two entirely independent data centers in the same premises
  • The facility comprises of 9 separate tunnel halls (500m2 and 800m2), in total of 8500m2
