Turkcell inaugurates new data center in Tekirdağ, Turkey

In 2021, Turkcell unveiled a new data center in the Kapaklı district of Tekirdağ, located west of Istanbul along the northern shores of the Sea of Marmara. The project, dubbed the European Data Center, came with a reported price tag of $295 million. Spanning 37,277 square meters (400,000 sq ft), the facility dedicates 7,238 sqm (78,000 sq ft) of white space to services like colocation and disaster recovery.
Designed to endure earthquakes up to magnitude 9, the data center holds LEED Gold and Uptime Tier III certifications. The campus features 1,200 sq m of solar panels to support its power needs and is equipped with 6,000 sensors to monitor the building and its systems.
