The Kalkaska Go project was a proposed hyperscale data center campus slated for 1,440 acres of state-managed land in Kalkaska County, Michigan. Spearheaded by the developer Rocklocker, the ambitious "net-zero" plan featured an on-site natural gas power plant integrated with carbon capture technology to sequester emissions in the local Antrim Shale.
While proponents highlighted a potential $35 million in annual tax revenue and significant job creation, the project faced overwhelming opposition from residents concerned about noise, water usage, and the industrialization of public recreational land. Following a formal rejection from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and reports of anonymous threats toward project personnel, the developer officially withdrew the proposal in November 2025, effectively ending the pursuit of a data center at that location.
