The Qarnot data center is located at the Lamarmora power plant in Brescia, Lombardy, Italy. It is structured in two phases.

Phase 1 (currently operational): Consists of 30 QBx computing units housed in two liquid-cooled pods, generating approximately 800 MWh of thermal energy annually.

Phase 2 ("Qarnot 2," in design): Planned for the former coal storage area at the Lamarmora plant, expected to generate 16 GWh of thermal energy annually, sufficient to heat around 1,350 apartments. This phase is supported by European funding and aims to be operational within two years from June 2025.

The waste heat from these pods is integrated into A2A’s district heating network in Brescia, which spans over 684 kilometers and serves 22,000 customers, contributing to reduced CO2 emissions by 3,500 tons annually, equivalent to the absorption capacity of over 22,000 trees.

Qarnot is transforming European HPC cloud computing with an intuitive High-Performance Computing as a Service (HPCaaS) platform. Designed for engineers in critical sectors like aerospace, energy, automotive, and naval, Qarnot provides powerful computational resources without the complexities and high costs of traditional IT infrastructure.

What makes Qarnot stand out is its innovative, proprietary infrastructure that reuses waste heat from its liquid-cooled servers for local district heating networks, offering significant cost savings (up to 50% lower than traditional providers) and a remarkably reduced carbon footprint. This independently operated, European-based infrastructure ensures data sovereignty and security for sensitive industries.

Through its flexible web, SDK, API, and CLI access, Qarnot enables R&D teams to accelerate engineering, streamline workflows, and achieve precise, reproducible results with seamless integration with leading solvers like Ansys Fluent, Abaqus, and OpenFOAM.
