Prologis: Project Sail

Despite fierce local opposition, Prologis has received zoning approval from Coweta County officials to move forward with Project Sail, a massive nine-building data center campus. Situated on 832 acres near Newnan, Georgia, the development will encompass approximately 4.34 million square feet of infrastructure.

The project has become a flashpoint for community tension, with residents organizing via social media and crowdfunding legal fees to challenge the build, citing the potential for environmental degradation and habitat loss. Although the Board of Commissioners has sanctioned the rezoning, the transition from Atlas Development LLC to Prologis is still pending finalization, leaving the project in a state of high-stakes transition amidst ongoing threats of litigation.

Site history

Previously, Atlas Development LLC had proposed a $17 billion, 832-acre data center campus for the site, located near Newnan, Georgia. The original Project Sail was to include 13 data halls, each 378,000 square feet, totaling 4.9 million square feet, with a projected completion date of 2036. The site is located 45 miles south of Atlanta in Coweta County.
