The original Project Turbo was a proposed $1.2 billion data center campus in Hall County, Georgia, that was officially withdrawn in December 2025 following intense community opposition. The developer had planned for a total of three massive buildings encompassing approximately 900,000 square feet on a 120-acre site off O’Kelly Road.
While the project promised $25 million in annual tax revenue, it ultimately collapsed due to concerns over its environmental footprint. The campus would have required 150 MW of power and an initial request for up to 500,000 gallons of water per day from Lake Lanier for cooling. Even after developers tried to downsize the water request and suggest "closed-loop" systems, the lack of trust and concerns over grid stability led to the plan being scrapped.
