Three years after construction began, the social media giant Meta's new data center in DeKalb became officially operational in December 2024. The campus is located on a 505-acre property just south of Route 88. With one million square feet already built, the facility's total planned space is an impressive 2.3 million square feet. Meta's site in DeKalb, Illinois, can ultimately hold up to five data center buildings, enabling further expansion capacity. The campus cost the company over $1 billion to complete since it was first announced in 2020.
