Iowa Data Center with 1.6MW Capacity Hits Market for $4M
June 15, 2026
Google's first Minnesota data center is a proposed multi-billion-dollar hyperscale facility anchoring Ryan Companies' 482-acre Project Skyway technology park in Pine Island.
The development features an initial 250,000-square-foot, zero-water air-cooled building situated on an 88-acre parcel near Highway 52. To completely insulate local ratepayers from its immense power requirements, Google partnered with Xcel Energy under a novel contract structure to finance 1.9 GW of new grid capacity, highlighted by a record-breaking 30 GWh Form Energy iron-air battery system. While originally scheduled for a July 2026 groundbreaking, construction on the site was temporarily halted in late May 2026 by a Goodhue County judge following a lawsuit from environmental advocates demanding a more exhaustive review of the campus's ultimate scalability.
