An earlier proposed location on a former school and childcare site was rejected after strong local opposition, and the municipality then assembled a new site combining land from several owners, acting as coordinator for the group. In mid 2026, the municipality authorized a negotiation committee to agree terms with the developer for the sale, with any final agreement to return for political approval before signing. The proposed terms include a multi-year purchase option, a long-term local employment guarantee, developer-funded rezoning, and planned use of surplus heat.
