EdgeCore has acquired 697 acres of land in Louisa County for $42 million, with plans to construct a data center. The company intends to invest approximately $17 billion in the facility, which is projected to offer around 3.9 million square feet (362,320 sqm) of space upon completion.
The data center will be situated in the Shannon Hill Regional Business Park, conveniently located next to Interstate 64. It will reportedly utilize a closed-loop air-cooled system and will be powered by Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, a Virginia-based utility.
Louisa County originally purchased the business park in 2018 for $2.6 million and subsequently zoned it in 2019 for various technology-related purposes.
