Axia Energia's DC Xingó project is set to be developed in Canindé de São Francisco, a municipality in northwestern Sergipe, Brazil. Strategically positioned to leverage the company's existing 3,162 MW Xingó hydroelectric plant on the São Francisco River, the data center aims to capitalize on abundant renewable energy and potential cooling resources from the Marituba aquifer and Xingó reservoir.
While the project is currently in its initial documentation phase awaiting regulatory approvals from Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy and ANEEL, specific capacity metrics remain undisclosed. The initiative represents Axia Energia's broader strategy to diversify into digital infrastructure by co-locating data centers with its power generation assets, offering potential clients direct access to reliable, low-cost clean energy in a region increasingly attractive for tech investment.
AXIA Energia (formerly Eletrobras) is headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As a major player in renewable energy generation and transmission in the Southern Hemisphere, the company operates throughout Brazil, with its main corporate, administrative, and strategic offices located in Rio de Janeiro.
