Green's Lupfig campus, marketed as Campus ZRH1 and formerly as Metro-Campus Zurich West, sits on Industriestrasse in Lupfig, Canton Aargau. It lies in the Zurich-Bern-Basel triangle, about 30 km west of Zurich, near an A3 motorway exit and Lupfig railway station. Green also runs its headquarters here.

Land and buildings

  • The campus covers two adjoining cadastral parcels of about 2.7 ha (6.7 acres).
  • Parcel 281 holds the original data center building, the high-density data center and the Innovation Tower office building. Several of these stand on building-right parcels.
  • Green bought the adjoining parcel 1019 in 2019 for its fourth data center.
  • Green's 2019 planning study foresees six independently operated data centers with about 70,000 m² of gross floor area.

Ownership

  • Green Datacenter AG develops and operates the campus and owns the data center buildings.
  • InfraVia bought Green from Altice in 2018.
  • IFM Investors' Global Infrastructure Fund bought 100% of Green Group AG from InfraVia. The deal closed on 30 October 2025.

Power and cooling

  • Two substations deliver a dedicated, redundant grid supply. Diesel generators can run the site for up to 72 hours.
  • IBB Energie AG of Brugg supplies the electricity. IBB added switchgear at its Lupfig substation in 2025.
  • Cooling uses ambient-air free cooling, ammonia chillers, cold-aisle containment and two 100,000-litre night storage tanks.
  • Photovoltaic panels cover the south façade and roofs. Green buys 100% renewable electricity.
  • Waste heat from the newest data center feeds IBB's Naturenergie Eigenamt district-heating network in Birr and Lupfig.

Connectivity and certifications

  • The campus is carrier-neutral, with more than 50 carriers and a SwissIX core site. Green's own fibre ring links it to Green's other Zurich-area data centers.
  • Certifications include the Uptime Institute M&O Stamp of Approval, ISO 27001, ISO 50001, SOC 1, SOC 2, PCI DSS and ISAE 3402.
  • The Swiss Federal Office of Energy gave Green its Watt d'Or award for energy efficiency.
  • Early anchor customers included HP, Axpo and ABB. ABB consolidated its European data centers here.
