Yondr has announced that to deliver on its sustainability goals; it is developing a wide range of renewable energy projects that will fuel its data centers. This is promising considering that the company is massively expanding its data center footprint across the US, Latin America and Canada, to the tune of $2 billion.
While there will be a focus on photovoltaic solar arrays and onshore wind farms, Yondr is also investing R&D resources into emerging technologies too.
Speaking about this move, Pete Jones, Chief Development Officer and co-founder of Yondr Group said: "We will be launching an energy platform primarily for data center end-user clients, and this will be exclusively new renewables that are wholly additional."
Yondr's recently hired Global Head of Energy, Ross McConnell, added: "We are at an inflection point, with an ever-increasing demand for data center capacity worldwide yet the need to decarbonize energy," said McConnell. "It's a fantastic opportunity to deliver impactful energy solutions and help our clients on their renewable and sustainability journeys."
Further to this, McConnell outlined that Yondr may even build renewables in metros where it does not have data centers.
Further details are yet to be released.
