Woodway Plans 22-Mile Gas Pipeline To Serve Undisclosed US Data Center

Houston-based Woodway Energy Infrastructure plans to build a 22-mile (35.4km), 30-inch natural gas pipeline to supply an undisclosed US data center behind the meter. The pipeline is expected to enter service in the first half of 2028, pending regulatory approvals. Woodway will own and operate the pipeline with 24/7 monitoring.

"Our model combines tailored design, speed and focused execution with long-term ownership and operation. By working closely with our customers, we can develop pipeline solutions that address their specific needs and provide the fuel supply certainty required to support their growth."

Woodway said the pipeline will be tailored to the data center’s requirements and could be extended. Founded in 2020 and backed by Macquarie Capital, Woodway develops and operates natural gas pipelines and related infrastructure. Data centers are increasingly using natural gas as grid interconnection delays extend into the 2030s, prompting pipeline developers to propose dedicated infrastructure for behind-the-meter power.
