Vertiv expects modular and prefabricated data centers to grow in Latin America. Vertiv Latin America manager of integrated solutions services Alexandre Alves said modular equipment is meant to build quickly. This ecosystem will provide more opportunities for Latin American providers if modular data center development estimates come true. Due to rising demand for instantly deployable and scalable facilities in the region, the business is expanding its regional prefabricated data center solutions portfolio. Allied Market Research expects the South American modular data center market to increase 16.5% to US$2.4bn by 2030 from US$516mn in 2020. Aritzon predicted that the Latin American modular data center market would expand 19% from US$360mn in 2021 to US$1.2bn in 2027.
Vertiv is prospecting with businesses in the area about a new modular product suite recently added to its portfolio, MegaMod, to take a portion of that market. The company says this pre-fabricated turnkey solution targets mid-sized data centers with IT loads of 2MW or higher and may be implemented in 0.5-1MW units. The modules have been integrated and tested with racks for IT equipment, thermal management programs, remote monitoring, and power management systems. Alves said Vertiv's product could scale up and minimize data center implementation time by 30% compared to traditional data center building. The equipment is currently imported at this prospecting stage, but according to Alves, Vertiv is considering local manufacturing.
