ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has announced that it plans to build two new data centers in Tokyo, Japan. STT GDC says the two data centers will be developed by and leased from Goodman Group. Goodman Group is an Australian property firm. The facilities will be located in Goodman Business Park in the city of Inzai in Tokyo. In addition, the facilities will have a gross floor area of 645,600 square feet (60,000 square meters). They will also have a combined capacity of 60MW upon completion.
This will be STT GDC’s first venture in the Japanese data center market. CEO of STT GDC, Bruno Lopez, said Goodman Group has a fantastic record as one of the biggest owners, developers, and industrial property managers globally. He added that combining Goodman’s record and STT GDC’s expertise in operating world-class carrier-neutral data centers makes STT GDC in a great position to serve the Japanese data center market.
Goodman Group will be in charge of developing the shell and core of the facilities before leasing it back to STT GDC on a long-term basis. STT GDC will operate the data centers. Besides, the first data center building is scheduled to be completed in Q2 of 2024.
