ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has broken ground on a new campus in Mumbai, India. STT GDC India this week announced construction has begun on the first facility at its Palava campus.
Spanning 46 acres, the campus is planned to scale to շուրջ 400MW of IT load, with an initial phase delivering 50MW. STT GDC has committed around Rs 5,000 crore ($540 million) to the project.
“Strategically located in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, this development strengthens Maharashtra’s leadership as India’s premier digital infrastructure hub and accelerates Mumbai’s rise as a global center for AI, cloud, and next-generation digital workloads,” the company said.
Palava City, located between Thane and Navi Mumbai, is a smart city built by local real estate firm Lodha. STT GDC acquired land in the park last year and later announced plans to develop the site into a data center campus.
STT GDC operates two data center parks near Mumbai—one in the city and another in Navi Mumbai. Across India, the company has more than 400MW of IT load in operation and development across 30 facilities in 10 cities.
