According to Biz Journal, Strategic Datasphere has completed the acquisition of a data center in Alpharetta, Georgia, for $80 million. The 165,000 square feet (15,300 square meters) facility is leased to E*Trade. This is Datasphere’s first acquisition since it was recently formed. The CEO of Strategic Datasphere, Bryan Marsh, said the company believes that it could not pass up the opportunity to buy a purpose-built data center in a Tier 1 data center market. He added that the facility also has investment-grade in-place cash flow, making the opportunity irresistible.
The data center has 5.4MW of 2N critical capacity. It can also be expanded to 8.1MW upon full buildout. In addition, the data center sits on a 14.40-acre property. It also has space for another 140,000 square feet (13,000 square meters) data center. Bryan Marsh told Business Journal that the company didn’t have intentions to acquire the data center, but it was lucky to come across the facility at the time it did.
