STACK INFRASTRUCTURE: Stack Infrastructure Expands Into Australia With Partnership With Hickory

Stack Infrastructure has announced that it is expanding into Australia. The company is partnering with Hickory, an Australian real estate developer. In addition, the development will see Stack develop data centers in three cities in the country. Stack Australia is already developing a data center campus with a 72MW capacity in Truganina, Melbourne. The data campus will deliver two data center buildings offering 36MW capacity each. The facility is scheduled to come online next year.

In addition, Stack also has plans for 24MW and 28MW data centers in Wangara, Perth, and Hume, Canberra, respectively. Both data centers have already been approved, and work is expected to start in Q3 2022. The data centers are also scheduled to come online in 2023. The CEO of Stack APAC, Pithambar Gona, said the company expanding into Australia focuses on having a scalable presence in major regional markets that are of great importance to customers.

The agreement between the two companies will also see Hickory’s data center management team led by James Veness, Michael Gunton, and Joel O’Halloran join Stack Infrastructure. Hickory was founded in 1991, and it specializes in developing residential, commercial, and mixed-use buildings across the country. However, in June 2021, the company revealed that it would be moving into data center development by announcing a 269,000 square feet (25,000 square meters) data center in Melbourne. However, it seems Stack Infrastructure has taken over Hickory’s developments.
