A new data center campus has been opened by Stack in Melbourne, Australia. This week, the company announced the conclusion of its MEL01 Asia-Pacific (APAC) data center.

The 36MW MEL01A facility, situated on a 3.6-hectare site in Melbourne's Truganina region, is part of a 72MW campus that will ultimately include two buildings. It also has a 105MW dedicated substation on-site.

Stack, owned by IPI, entered the Australian market after acquiring three development projects from local developer Hickory. Hickory first revealed its plans to enter the data center market in June 2021. At the time, the company announced a 269,000-square-foot facility in Melbourne. Construction on the facility began in late 2021.

Stack is also planning a 28MW data center in the Hume neighborhood of Canberra and a 24MW data center in the Wangara neighborhood of Perth. The two were scheduled to break ground in the third quarter of 2022, with delivery anticipated in the second half of 2023.
