Sembcorp is planning a 280MW data center at Wilton International in Teesside, UK, in partnership with Digital Reef. The project would include three buildings on a 154,553 sqm site acquired for £3.5 million ($4.7m) in July 2025.

Sembcorp has filed plans for a 280MW air-cooled data center at Wilton International in Teesside, UK, alongside Digital Reef. The site, previously owned by Peak Rare Earths and later acquired by Shenghe Resources, spans 154,553 sqm and was purchased for £3.5 million in July 2025. Wilton International, owned by Sembcorp, features the UK’s largest private wire electricity grid and four on-site generation units powered by gas, biomass, and non-recyclable waste. Consultation on the project began after the application was submitted on May 8.

Other tenants at Wilton International include Anglo American, Huntsman, Biffa, and Alpek Polyester. Teesside covers the area around the River Tees, including Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, and Redcar and Cleveland. The wider region, once home to the 4,500-acre Teesside Steelworks, has been considered as a potential UK AI Growth Zone, though it has not yet received the designation or associated incentives for data center development.
