Redcar & Cleveland Council granted Wilton Data Center an outline consent for a new data center campus at the Wilton International Park, just outside Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire, UK.

Wilton intends to construct 150,000 square meter of data center space on a 32-acre plot. The company did not reveal further details regarding this project asides stating that it will take several years to complete. However, an application for a 48 MW data center was put forward in January 2023 by Heatons without revealing the company behind the project.

Stephen Timmons, managing director of Wilton Data Centre, said: “We are delighted to have secured planning consent. This data center development has the potential to bring many benefits to the businesses and residents of Teesside, and indeed the wider Northeast of England. I would like to thank the wide range of stakeholders that contributed to moving forward such a significant project for our region.”
