Segro has announced that it has applied to build a new data center park, near Slough, UK. Details outline that the park will span 65,000 sqm (700,000 sq ft) and be located within the Thorney Business Park in Iver. According to the planning statement, the proposed building (DC1) is also accompanied by drawings for two more facilities (DC2 and DC3).

DC1, in the proposal document, is outlined to stand at 19.5m, with three stories of data center halls, and includes requests for "ancillary office space, plant equipment, and back-up generation."

In order to address potential noise and disturbance to locals, the plan also proposes a new access road to the site, with car and cycle parking areas, necessary landscaping and power distribution infrastructure.

In the planning statement the company outlines: "Segro is seeking to redevelop part of the Thorney Business Park to deliver a data center complex that responds to the technical constraints and opportunities including landscape considerations balanced with securing an appropriate quantum, height, scale and layout to meet the needs of the data centre operators."
