A 40MW data center is proposed for an industrial park near Butzbach, about 35km (22 miles) north of Frankfurt, Germany. The project is in its early stages and will involve multiple partners, including energy company RheinEnergie.

The first phase of the facility will require up to 10MW of electrical power, and can be expanded depending on demand. It will be built on a land parcel approximately 30,000 sqm (323,000 sq ft) large.

Details about the facility are somewhat sparse, and it is unclear who the data center developer and end-user will be. The name of the “northern industrial park” was also not mentioned. But the town says that discussions with investors are already “advanced.”

German data center operator firstcolo operates a data center in the neighboring town of Rosbach von der Hohe, but most of the data centers in the state of Hesse, as well as the country, are located in Frankfurt.
