Orange: Orange launches data center in Garborone, Botswana

Telco Orange recently unveiled a new data center in Gaborone, Botswana. The company posted on LinkedIn, “Hello from the new Orange Data Center at the Botswana Digital & Innovation Hub! This is the first Tier III data center in Botswana and third in Southern Africa.”
According to ITWeb Africa, Orange invested $5.2 million in the project, located in the Botswana Digital Innovation Hub Science and Technology Park in the capital city. Orange also claims to operate the first Tier III facility in the country, Uptime lists a Tier III certified facility from BoFiNet and a government-owned Tier IV data center on its site, both also in Gaborone.
Nene Maiga, Orange Botswana CEO, mentioned that the center “creates an environment conducive to the exchange of ideas, development of groundbreaking solutions, and acceleration of technological progress within Botswana and beyond."
