Optage Inc. has announced plans to build a new data center in Osaka, Japan. Named the 'Optage Sonezaki Data Center', this facility will be the company's fifth, with work to commence in November 2023 and due to open in January 2026.
The facility will be located in the Higashi-Umeda area of the city, spanning 24,100 sq ft (2,250 sqm), and will be 14 stories. According to the company, the facility will feature a seismic isolation design to protect against earthquakes, and the Japanese ISP has said it will secure certificates for renewable energy, which will be provided by parent company Kansai Electric Power Co, through which it will offset energy use.
Optage currently operates the Umeda North Data Center in central Osaka and the Shinsaibashi Data Center, in central Osaka, which launched in 2012 and 2008 respectively.
