NEXTDC: NextDC announces completion of S3 data center in Sydney, Australia

NextDC has announced that it has completed construction at its S3 data center in Sydney, Australia, following AU$1 billion (US$685m) of investment, two months ahead of schedule. Construction first began at the facility in March 2021, with the first phase completed last year, in August. The second phase added 12,000 sqm (129,165 sq ft) of data hall space.

Further, the facility, designed by Greenbox Architects, now has over 26,000 sqm (280,000 sq ft) of data halls and ancillary infrastructure space, spread across nine levels; it offers 20,000 sqm (215,000 sq ft) of IT space and a capacity of 80MW across 10,800 racks. 

The facility has obtained Uptime Institute Tier IV certification and over the course of its construction, employed more than 3,000 workers.
