New Taiwan data center hailed as a sign of greater things to come

Chief Telecom, an affiliate of Chunghwa Telecom, has launched its fourth Internet Data Center (IDC) in Taipei City, a move that has been projected to bring new opportunities for Taiwan's IDC and cloud industries.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), who outlined that the IDC, when complete, will help Taiwan gain a reputation as an international digital business center.

The budget for construction is NT$2 billion, and it will be a Tier 4 level building with a floor area of ​​5,000 sqm. The 7-story building will also be developed as a "green," "smart building". 

According to reports, it is expected to be officially launched by the end of 2023.

There are 14 data centers in Taiwan.
