German data center company Maincubes has begun construction on a new Berlin campus. The company this week held a groundbreaking ceremony in Nauen for its BER02 site.
“With the official start of construction for the substation and the cable route, we have reached an important milestone for our new data center campus in Nauen,” the company said.
The new substation will support Maincubes’ 200MW Nauen campus, with potential to expand to 400MW. The first phase is scheduled to launch in December 2027.
Located west of Berlin, Maincubes acquired the Nauen site in October 2024 and announced the campus plans the following year.
Founded in 2012 and based in Frankfurt, Maincubes currently operates one data center in Amsterdam and three in Frankfurt, with a fourth in development.
Its other Berlin facility, BER01, is an 8.3MW, single-tenant data center across 5,100 sqm (54,895 sq ft) in the GoWest commercial district of Schmargendorf, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf.
