Maincubes has announced that it has broken ground on a new data center outside Frankfurt, Germany. The company laid the foundation stone of the FRA02 facility in Schwalbach, close to Frankfurt. Maincubes first revealed it would be developing the data center in July 2021. The development of the facility was delayed by Covid. According to Maincubes, the data center will have up to 48,400 square feet (4,500 square meters) of white space and 7.2MW of IT capacity. The facility is scheduled to be in operation in 2023.
The CEO of Maincubes, Oliver Menzel, said: "Planning a data center architecturally and, above all, technically, obtaining the permits, building it and aligning it to the specific requirements of the user - this is a complex matter, but it runs really smoothly and constructively here." He added that the company had secured a perfect site for its FRA02 data center. Menzel further thanked the Mayor of Schwalbach, Immisch, and the city's Council for their help.
The company is also looking to achieve sustainability with the facility as many waste heat concepts are being planned.
